The pure elm bark powder (slippery elm) from the red elm (Ulmus rubra) is a perfect natural stomach protector. When mixed with water, the powder produces a slimy syrup that forms a protective layer on the stomach wall. This can provide natural support in the event of stomach acidity, smacking (heartburn), fasting vomiting or even grass eating. Elm bark is also a natural anti-inflammatory and can have a supportive effect on gastritis, for example.
In cats, elm bark syrup can also make it easier for hairballs to pass, as it favours the formation of mucus in the stomach/intestinal tract.
An improvement in symptoms is usually noticeable after just a few days – and in a completely natural way.
Direction for making the Elm Bark Syrup:
Stir 1 teaspoon into about 2 tablespoons of lukewarm, boiled water until a thick, slimy consistency is achieved.
The mixed powder can be kept in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Please always feed at room temperature!
